Steel Manufacturing and Production Delays

A combination of factors have increased the demand for sheds; with Aussie farmers reporting record harvests and stronger yields, an increase in large farm machinery purchases and some very welcome tax write-off incentives during the pandemic, it seems every man and his dog needs a new shed!

You may have noticed a boom in the building and construction industry over the past two years. Despite the global pandemic, the need for good quality sheds across Australia has never been higher. A combination of factors have increased the demand for sheds; with Aussie farmers reporting record harvests and stronger yields, an increase in large farm machinery purchases and some very welcome tax write-off incentives during the pandemic, it seems every man and his dog needs a new shed!

The pandemic has seen a global increase in demand for steel and iron ore, putting Australian steel manufacturers under the pump. This demand has also caused the price of steel to rise by 40% over the course of the pandemic.

We are proud that all sheds at Now Buildings are made form the highest quality 100% Australian made steel. Unfortunately, the increase in demand for this quality product across the industry has seen steel production and manufacturing times slow right down. On top of this, COVID-19 disruptions causing staff shortages and changes to manufacturing procedures have added to the problem, forcing lead times to be pushed out even further. Where before 2021 our steel manufacturers could previously produce and deliver a shed kit within 4-5 weeks of purchase, we are now seeing production times in in-demand areas take up to 8-16 weeks.

At Now Buildings, we are doing our best to continue to provide an excellent service and experience for our customers. While we cannot change the production and manufacturing time required to produce a shed kit during these unprecedented times, we have expanded our Logistics and Customer Service Team so that we can maintain our high level of customer service and keep you updated on your shed order. We’ve increased our customer communication touch points so that we can give customers regular, up to date information regarding their shed production throughout the purchasing process. We are also working closely with all suppliers to ensure supply chain issues have as little effect on shed ready dates as possible.

As always, we endeavour to make your shed buying experience as pleasant and smooth as possible. If you have any questions regarding lead times in your particular area, please speak to our Sales Team today.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
