Another Price Rise!

Echoes of the pandemic, government infrastructure projects and international events continue to increase the price of steel. Since 2021, we’ve seen several price rises and BlueScope has informed us of another price rise coming soon!

Why do the prices keep rising?

Several factors have decreased the supply & increased the cost of producing steel:

  • Domestic steel manufacturing & delivery delays due to the pandemic
  • Domestic tariffs on imported steel
  • Increased price of coking coal resulting from a transition to renewable energy
  • Increased cost of transport and manufacturing due to fuel and wage rises

The demand for Australian steel has also increased for several reasons:

  • Increase in international infrastructure projects as a post-pandemic stimulus
  • Domestic boom from the HomeBuilder grant
  • International trade Sanctions on non-Australian steel manufacturing countries
  • Shortages in competing materials such as timber
  • Backlogs due to project delays caused by the pandemic
  • The strong U.S. dollar impacting the export of U.S steel

Why Buy A Shed Now?

With increased economic volatility this year, we’ve seen inflation, increasing petrol, fertiliser and urea prices on top of interest rate hikes. On the plus side, this has come with high grain and meat prices from food shortages benefiting Australian farmers. Whilst input costs continue to rise, output costs are also rising, now has never been a better time to buy a shed.

This next price rise will be up to a whopping 8.5%. To see how much this could cost you, request a quote and our product managers will be happy to demonstrate the savings that can be made by buying today.
